Cloudways Hosting Review
Although there are many web hosting solutions available, finding one that you won't regret is difficult. Different hosting providers offer their unique approach to web hosting but Cloudways will surely pique your interest with its simplistic approach.
In a world where cloud-based web hosting services are now common, Cloudways does some interesting things with their cloud hosting, which separates it in the growing field. They give you the option to pick from five options, including Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform, offer pay-as-you-go plans, and let you test them out for free. The lack of domain registration and included email dulls some of the shine, but this excellent cloud hosting service is still very worthwhile.
Cloudways is the only web hosting service that lets you build a site without spending a dime. It is possible to sign up for a free 3-day trial account by creating your own username and password or to log in with Github, Google, or LinkdedIn credentials, which is a nice touch.Upon login, you're prompted to choose a content management system (CMS) from a variety of popular and respected sources, including Drupal, Joomla, Koken, Magento, Media Wiki, PHP Stack, Prestashop, and, of course, WordPress. We see a great deal of flexibility here.
Additionally, this flexibility extends to server selection, as there is also an infrastructure-as-a-service option to choose from, such as Amazon Web Services, DigitalOcean, Google Cloud Platform, Linode, Stackpath, and Vultr. The server locations are scattered around the country, so you can choose whichever works best for you.
Cloudways' Key Features
Most people are familiar with Cloudways as a WordPress hosting platform. If you need anything to set up and run your WordPress-powered site, Cloudways can do it for you including SSL installations, HTTPS redirects, backups, and other manual tasks that can be difficult for those who are not experienced.
Following is an overview of Cloudways’ features:
1. A custom control panel
The Cloudways control panel makes it easy to manage your servers after you have created an account. Cloudways’ control panel is completely different from the typical cPanel of most hosts, but it’s still intuitive and modern on its own. The panel has a menu that lets you access Servers, Applications, Projects, and Teams.
Cloudway's Application Management
Once you have set up a server, you can add applications at any time; for instance, WordPress.
It also has a page for one-click SSL installation so you can install free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates. You can buy your certificates then install them here.
Cloudway's Server management
Now that you have set up an application, you can tweak the usual aspects of your website under Servers. Login credentials can be viewed under Server Management.
Cloudway's Team management
The Team feature allows you to collaborate with other members of your team. They are given full or restricted access to the website.
2. Cloudway's Staging and cloning
A useful feature that Cloudways provides is staging, which lets you test changes before permanently incorporating them into your website. You can deploy a staging area for testing, and when the changes are satisfactory, you can push them to the live website. This way, you can protect yourself from the possibility of introducing bad changes that cannot be reversed.
Clones are similar to staging. You can make multiple clones to showcase your site to clients or move to new servers.
3. Cloudway's Advanced caching
The Cloudways data center infrastructure is provided by 5 cloud providers: Digital Ocean, Linode, Vultr, AWS, and Google Cloud. Each of these providers is known for offering SSD-enabled VPS and dedicated servers, allowing for speedy server performance.
In addition to the cloud infrastructure, Cloudways utilizes several caching mechanisms to optimize servers. Cloudways have built an in-house caching plug-in called Breeze. It's easy to install, enable, and disable. Most importantly, it supports Cloud Way's cloud-based content delivery network called CloudwaysCDN.
With CloudwaysCDN, your web pages will be delivered fast and reliably because they're cached on multiple servers located around the world. While Cloudways’ free trial account doesn’t include this feature, you can get it with any of the paid plans at a much lower cost. This feature is available in Application Management and can be configured with just one click.
4. Cloudway's Vertical scaling
You can increase your server resources through Vertical Scaling if you need to for any reason. The function is located in the Server Management tab. You can scale both up and down, which is a good thing, so you can go back to your previous hosting plan if that's what you prefer.
5. Customer Service
The Cloudways support team is available around the clock, so you can get in touch with someone whatever time of day. If you want to speak to a human being, however, you need to fill out a form to request a phone call or Skype call.
In addition, you have the option of contacting a customer service rep via web chat. So you get answers in a timely fashion. The Cloudways team is quite knowledgeable, too, so I never waited more than a few seconds for a rep to begin answering a chat question. Additionally, Cloudways offers CloudWaysBot that monitors servers and gives notifications whenever there is an update or any issue.
What I Think Of Cloudways
Using powerful servers, Cloudways provides website hosting that is easy to set up, cheap, and powerful. However, it does not offer domain registration or email.
- Setting it up is very easy.
- Uptime is excellent.
- Supports a wide range of apps.
- Site cloning.
- Pay-as-you-go plans.
- A free trial is available before signing up.
- There are several flexible account tiers.
- No domain registration option.
- Email costs extra.
Several characteristics of Cloudways stand out. The service provides top-of-the-line customer support, flexible plans, rapid setup times, and a great uptime record. It is a reliable company for you to depend on when it comes to maintaining your site to the services that provide those items. Also, customers may not like the unusual way to get a customer service representative on the phone. Give Cloudways a chance if those caveats don't deter you. It may be just the right solution for keeping and getting your website online.
